"I have always felt great responsibility as a carrier of this valuable art form. I strive for it's preservation, and for the teachings that it holds," said Halfmoon. Birch Bark Bitings hold teachings in respect, sharing, imagination, confidence, concentration and focus. Birch Bark itself has roots for our culture in medicine, ceremonies, story recording, and more. Pat's dream for many years has been to create a children's book that will communicate these teachings. The book is meant for everyone, as all children can benefit and learn the values it will highlight. With reading being such an important part of a child's life, Pat also wants to see more literature with First Nations culture and people being the focus.
